Poetry Prompt: U.S. Constitution Day

This post is part of a series of weekly found poetry prompts. If you have an idea for a found poetry source, email Senior Poetry Editor Beth Ayer. Above image by Mr.TinDC.

This week marked U.S. Constitution Day, which “commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution” on September 17, 1787.

Your prompt: write an erasure poem using the text of the U.S. Constitution and/or amendments (here is a printer-friendly version if you plan to mark up the text in print).

Alternative prompt: Use “constitution” as your theme. Find another text that relates in some way to the word or concept of “constitution.” Write a found poem (remix, erasure, cento, etc.) using your chosen text.
