Poetry Prompt: Let Me Librarian That For You

This post is part of a series of weekly found poetry prompts. If you have an idea for a found poetry source, email Senior Poetry Editor Beth Ayer. Photo from the New York Public Library.

Before we relied on the internet to answer our odd questions, many people turned to librarians for much more than reference information. They asked all sorts of things. For example: “What does it mean when you dream you’re being chased by an elephant?” Or: “Can I get a book telling me how to be mistress of ceremonies at a musical orgy?” The New York Public Library’s Instagram profile now shares photos of these handwritten questions using the hashtag #letmelibrarianthatforyou, and other libraries have joined them.

Prompt: Write a poem using #letmelibrarianthatforyou questions. Please do share the results in the comments section or submit to an upcoming issue.
