Poetry Prompt: 404 Not Found

404 not found

This post is part of a series of weekly found poetry prompts. If you have an idea for a found poetry source, email Senior Poetry Editor Beth Ayer

This week, write a poem using the descriptions of web status and error codes. 404 is among the most common. But there are many more types of errors of course, and you can find descriptions of these situations here and here and here and here. And here are some Windows update error codes for good measure. You may use these links or find your own (Preferably pages that exist! Although I’d love to see a found poem written using the text from a page that does not exist…). Please share your poems in the comments.

    Error Code 000 Bad Syntax

    By the server,
    the request to the server
    was not understood,
due to the formation of syntax
    malformed and hence,

    The client,
    should not repeat the request,
    should not repeat
    the request,
    without modifications for the syntax.
