Speaking of Conceptualism, it’s been a while since we’ve heard from Kenneth Goldsmith on Finders Keepers. I’ll admit, I’m bored of the back and forth of Goldsmith’s divisive statements and the predictable responses from angry haters of Conceptualism. This interview, however, goes beyond artistic posturing, as Goldsmith challenges the traditional view of reading and provides insights into the current state and future of reading in the context of the Internet. Speaking of haters, here are some critiques of conceptual poetry by haters and non-haters alike. The Argotist Online presented five poets/critics with a series of questions about Conceptualism, its place in poetry, and its impact on the wider art form. I particularly enjoyed Don Share’s responses, for taking the time to question the questions themselves.
